Cleanliness – Tolerate no uncleanliness in body, cloaths, or habitation.
Kim perspective: For the sake of the 24 challenge, to me this means keeping our minds clean . . . clean and clear of negative influences that you find on the Internet, TV and among friends who don’t wish the best for you.
My kids are not all that happy with me, but for this week I am keeping the Ben Franklin focus Subject of cleanliness by turning off the TV. Day One: Kids screaming that they are bored. Husband very stressed. He needs to know what is happening in the world. I open a book!
Day Two: Kids screaming and fighting over the one computer for the kids. Husband pacing!
Day Three: I notice I am craving less junk food and sugar – could have used that last week- because I am not watching TV commercials. Funny thought that the kids are becoming more violent. Husband is fuming.
Day Four: Husband reading, kids playing outside, dogs are being washed. I hear laughter. But now I am bored. I miss comedy sitcoms!
Day Five: I find out kids have been sneaking TV down in grandma’s apartment. Hmmm. That is why they have been so quiet! “Only one show Mom, geez!” says my teenage daughter, “I had to see it!” Husband wants to play tennis . . . again! I find him listening to the news on the radio in his car. I say, “you can listen to the radio inside” He gives me the finger – the shhhhhh! Sign!
Day Six – we go to blockbuster, I tell them no violence and they want to know if that means fighting without blood would be okay. I think I may need to do another week!
This has nothing to do with Social media and online success but it sure did change some things in our family. Definitely I lost weight from increased activity and not craving Little Caesar’s Pizza which ran 5 commercials per hour!
Try it! Kim Power Stilson
